A partnership with the world`s largest restaurant chain is a coup for Adyen, as payment companies compete for other merchants amid a global e-commerce boom. According to Adyen, mobile orders for pickup and delivery are a nascent business for the food and beverage industry that deals with payments for companies such as Deliveroo, Domino`s Pizza Inc. and Dunkin Donuts Inc. Stay informed of our November 30, 2020 financing Roundup. “We are the only truly unique, technology-driven payment platform to enter into this agreement with McDonald`s to support their in-app payments,” said Kamran Zaki, COO (January 1) of Adyen. “Together, the mobile payment experience will be even easier for McDonald`s customers.” Its move to the UK High Street follows existing agreements with major technology companies such as eBay, Uber, Spotify and LinkedIn. Last year, the fast food giant announced a five-year plan for new scriptural payment technologies that included a partnership with French payment platform Ingenico. Adyens claiming glory is that its system makes it easy to race and implement mobile payments for businesses. With what Adyen calls its “Unified Commerce Experience,” companies can more easily accept any type of digital payment through distribution channels (e.g.B mobile, kiosk, etc.), add new ones and create a consistent ordering and payment experience for customers in different regions. In other words, ordering via the McDonald`s mobile app in China would look, smell and function in the same way as in the UK, with the system automatically adapting functions such as language, currency and country-specific payment methods. McDonald`s has reached an agreement with international payment platform Adyen NV, which will receive and process payments in the chain`s mobile app, according to a press release from Adyen.

The latest deal with McDonald`s, which would have generated $16 billion in UK sales last year, is the latest of the newcomers. “We will process its mobile application payments to allow for pre-order and delivery,” she said by email.
